Silenced is book four in the Alaskan Courage series. This book can stand alone. So, if you haven’t read the other three books that come before Silenced, you won’t be lost in the storyline. But, I definitely recommend that you read the entire series because it is just so good! It is fun to see each McKenna sibling get their happily ever after! There are five siblings and they each get their own book in the series. Silenced focuses on Kayden McKenna and Jake Cavanaugh.
I love the way the author combines so much into these stories! There is always a wonderful romance brewing between the main characters and lots of romantic tension. On top of that, there is danger and a mystery or two to solve. Throw in at least one murder and the beautiful, majestic setting of Alaska and you have a book that kept me eagerly turning the pages to the very end. Silenced is a wonderful addition to the Alaskan Courage series.
I really enjoyed getting to know Kayden McKenna. She is so guarded, even with her family. And I just think Jake is a wonderful hero. He has such a tragic and painful past that he has had to overcome, and he is so desperately in love with Kayden! When they get paired up to work on solving the murder of a rock climber, it is fun to see their attraction to each other grow and their relationship develop throughout the book.
I highly recommend Silenced to readers who love action-packed mysteries, combined with wonderful romance. (5 stars)
I received a complimentary copy of Silenced from the author, through Bethany House Publishers, in exchange for an honest review, which I have given.

Have you ever been to Alaska? After reading books that really catch your interest, do you find yourself wanting to travel there? I know I do! I have never been to Alaska, but after reading Dani’s series, I really want to take an Alaskan cruise someday!
I have never been to Alaska but the hubby and I have been thinking of going on a cruise there!! Thank you for the opportunity to win!!

Danger, Romance and mystery. Sounds like a super combo. Would love this book. Sonja dot Nishimoto at gmail dot com
I would love to take an Alaskan cruise someday but prefer to read about some of the adventures!!
I’d love to go to Alaska and I’ve not read any of her books and would like to! Thanks!
Looks like a page turner to keep me up for a night in the near future!
I have never been to Alaska but I love reading books set there. My parents took a cruise to Alaska on their 35th anniversary, and I would love to take that cruise some day.

I have never been to Alaska but I think it looks beautiful. Thereadmaster@me.com. Hope to win. Love these books.
Sounds like my kind of book! I love romance and suspense. 🙂
Usually I don’t especially want to visit a place after reading a book about it (maybe because I’m not a big traveler), but I would love to see Alaska. I’ve lived in Texas my whole life, and Alaska would probably seem like a whole new planet. 🙂

No, I’ve never been to Alaska and never have had much interest in going until I read this series. Now, that’s what I call successful advertising! This is a good reason why other authors should base their books on real places.

I have never been to Alaska, and didn’t want to until I read this series. I’m very much looking forward to reading Silenced.

My late husband and I took a cruise to Alaska for our 20th wedding annniversary. We both loved Alaska and wanted to go back on our 30th anniversary, which would be this June. Unfortunately, my husband passed away 4 years ago. I’m so glad I have memories of the precious time we spent there together 10 years ago.

I have been to Alaska with my husband tagging along on a business trip. It was during the summer time, so it was incredibly light outside during the evening and so the hotel curtains were very heavy to block out the light . :). I found Alaska to be very beautiful and would love to go back.
I have really adored the series and just really fallen in love with the characters! It really reminds me of Dee Henderson’s O’Malley series, which I also loved!
Do you happen to know if this is the last one in this series?
Thanks so much for the giveaway! Ihhcheryl(at)comcast(dot)net
Hi Cheryl,
This is book four and there will be a book five that will cover Reef’s story.
I’ve heard so many good things about Dani Pettrey’s books! I haven’t read any of her books yet!
(They’re very popular at my library) I would love to go to Alaska! One day I hope to travel a whole lot! 🙂 Thanks for the giveaway!

Thanks for the giveaway! I LOVE Dani’s books and can’t wait to read this one!! 🙂
I’ve never been to Alaska. I think it would be a neat place to visit, but it isn’t very near the top of my “places to go” list.

I’ve always wanted to visit Alaska (in the summer). 🙂
I’ve never been to Alaska nor do I have a huge desire to go (except maybe to see the Northern Lights) but my best friend’s mother grew up there and talks about it a lot!
gatorade635(at)gmail(dot)com
I have never read her books, but would love to. Have never been to Alaska, maybe someday. TY for the chance.
I love mysteries and suspense. Another author you could try would be Linda J. White. She writes mysteries with really cool FBI Agents. I love her Seeds of Evidence and Words of Conviction. 🙂
Sounds good!
Ps… forgot my email… mickeydogATmyfairpointDOTnet
I’ve been to Alaska 3 times, but I’d love to go again. It’s has an amazing beauty. Yes, reading about a new location makes me want to visit there. I recently read a contemporary novel set in Northern Ireland. It did make me yearn to visit there.

I absolutely LOVE this series!!! My family (parents and younger brother) actually lived in Alaska when I was 2 and 3-yrs-old. My parents were missionaries in a tiny town named Aniak. For their anniversary one year (45th?), my 2 brothers and I… and spouses… sent them on a cruise, during which they also were able to go back to Aniak and see how things have continued in the almost 50 years since they left, as well as go to Denali National Park. They had a fabulous time! Since I don’t remember anything from the time I lived there, I seriously want to take a similar trip! I also would LOVE to see the Northern Lights sometime! Thanks for the giveaway!

I have never been to Alaska, but I love to watch “Alaska State Troopers” on television. Would love to win a copy of this book. I have read and enjoyed two of Dani’s three previous novels. They are definitely my kind of read! rmaney(at)firstarpchurch(dot) org.
I would love to read this next book in the series, after inhaling the first two books. Yes, sometimes I do want to go to the places I read about. Often I choose books about places I want to go to, which is one of the things that initially drew me to Dani’s books. She writes suspense masterfully, which increases the draw, as well as writing beautifully about Christians with bumps, scars, and grace. Blessings to both of you as well as other readers of this series! Jeanie Dannheim jeaniedannheim(at)ymail(dot)com
I have never been to Alaska. But would love to go because I have a prayer partner there I met online and have known for years. So love reading books about Alaska
Thanks so much for taking time to read and review Silenced! Deeply appreciate your fantastic post and support 🙂
I’ve heard so many good things about this book. Thanks for the chance to win a copy. And I love reading books about Alaska! tumcsec(at)gmail(dot)com
I have never been to Alaska and yes sometimes I would love to visit places that the authors describe. I love when they describe the sights, sounds and smells of the area etc.
No Britt, I have never been to Alaska, but I have had a niece and family (3 generations) who have lived there for many years. They wouldn’t live anywhere else. They love it. I wouldn’t like the long part of year when it stays dark and long times where it stays light at night. no way. I only have Dani’s first book of this series, but would love to win this. Thanks for the chance.

I’ve always wanted to go to Alaska! This book sounds so good!
Thanks for the opportunity!
Happy weekend!

I took a cruise to Alaska and loved it!! The glaciers and wildlife are beautiful!! I visited a musher camp where the sled dogs are raised and rode in a dog sled (exciting, although it was on dry land). I would love to make a return trip to see more of the wildlife and wooded areas, as well as the Northern Lights.
“Silenced” sounds like an exciting book – thanks for the great review, Brittany, and thanks for an opportunity to win a copy!! I haven’t read any of Dani’s books and would love to become acquainted with her writing!!
bonnieroof60(at)yahoo(dot)com
I have never been to Alaska. I would love to go and see Alaska but not live there. I don’t think I could handle living in Alaska when it is dark longer during the day. Also, I don’t like it when it is really, really cold. I would love to see the Northern lights and the wildlife. Watching all the shows on TV focusing on Alaska makes it all look so fascinating. My hubby would love to live in the wilds of Alaska and live off the land.
Love reading Dani’s books. I have read the first two in the series. Silenced is on my wish list. Thank you for the chance to win a copy.

My husband & I along with our friends drove over 10,000 miles to Alaska in an RV. Imagine if you well 4 adults in an RV for 2 months. We went to Fairbanks, Anchorage, Skagway, saw Mt. McKinley in Denali National Park, rode the train in Whitehorse, Yukon Territory, rode a boat to the glacier’s and had so many wonderful adventures I could have written a book. Would we go back to Alaska ?? You betcha !!
I’ve grown up with stories from an uncle and my father about Alaska, I’d love to go someday.
I’d love to go to Alaska! And I’d love to win a book!
Never been to Alaska, but have read many stories about that area and love the beauty that Alaska has – rugged, untouched beauty. I would love to see it someday! Thank you for this opportunity to put my name in the hat for this drawing. I have never read one of Dani’s books, but have them on my TBR list and would love to win a copy of Silenced.
Blessings,
Lori

I’ve never been to Alaska, but my sister and brother-in-law are going on an Alaskan cruise in August and I must admit I am a bit jealous!
I love this series, thanks for the giveaway! No, I’ve never been to Alaska, but I’ve heard a bunch about it.
I’ve not been there but my Aunt and Uncle have. They loved it. I’m not sure if I’ll ever make it there but it is one of the many states that I’d like to see.

I love suspense and mystery, and if it’s a series that revolves around a family, even better! Faith ~ mickeydogATmyfairpointDOTnet
I have never been to AK, but my husband has and I have many friends there. I have no desire to go on a cruise, and I joke it is because of Dani’s books! =)

Brittany, what a fantastic post!! I agree- Dani has a masterful way of balancing adventure, intrigue, and romance. She’s a joy, just like you. No need to enter me in your wonderful giveaway, but I wanted to thank you for your post! ~Amanda
Thanks Amanda!
Never been to Alaska. I watch a lot of shows on television about Alaska. I read the first two books of the series that my sis-in-law let me borrow. There are really good books. I would love the opportunity to win a copy of one of your books. Thanks.

Brittany,
What a fun post! Thank you for helping us share about Dani’s book and for holding this giveaway for your readers. I agree that Dani does an amazing job working in a little bit of every character’s story in each book, and giving them the BEST happy endings. One of the many (many!) things I adore about her writing. Now, bring on Reef’s story, I say! We’ve been waiting long enough to learn about the mysterious final McKenna 🙂
I agree!
sounds like a good book
I’ve been to Alaska and it was beautiful! 🙂
