Wow! What a wonderful conclusion to the Wings of the Nightingale series! The characters are wonderfully deep and the story continues to be full of romance, terrifying danger, and wonderful attention to historic detail.
I was blown away when I learned about both of these characters’ pasts. So much about Kay suddenly made a world of sense and it was wonderful to watch her learn about who God truly is and how much He cares about her. Roger’s back story was equally moving and the way he allowed his past mistakes to dictate his future was sad. The author did a great job of using these characters’ pasts to illustrate how God really does offer us the gift of grace to make us a new creation. It is not about earning His favor. It is a gift.
There were so many “edge of my seat” moments in this book! All three books in this series have been this way for me. It has been hard to set them down and stop reading. This one in particular had me so worried for the group at one point that I had to stop reading and remind myself that it was indeed fiction! That is some good writing.
My heart broke for both Roger and Kay at various points in the story when there were miscommunications between the two that left them feeling less than worthy of the other. And I rejoiced at the wonderful ending in this book. What a great way to bring the series to a close. I really enjoyed the whole series and definitely recommend In Perfect Time and all of the books in the series to readers who enjoy historical fiction. (5 stars)
I received a complimentary copy of this book from Baker Publishing Group in exchange for an honest review, which I have given.

Bold, sophisticated, and flirtatious, Army Air Force flight nurse Lt. Kay Jobson collects hearts wherever she flies, leaving men pining in airfields all across Europe. So how can ruggedly handsome C-47 pilot Lt. Roger Cooper be all but immune to her considerable charms? In fact, he seems to do everything he can to avoid her.
Still, as they cross the skies between Italy and southern France, evacuating the wounded and delivering paratroopers and supplies, every beat of their hearts draws them closer to where they don’t want to go. Can they confront the fears and misunderstandings in their pasts?
