Review: Thin Ice by Irene Hannon

Thin IceThin Ice is a great addition to the Men of Valor series, but can be read as a stand alone novel, as well. Each book in the series features a different McGregor brother. I have read book one, Buried Secrets, and have really enjoyed both books in the series.

One of the things I have noticed in the Irene Hannon books that I have read is that the reader will be able to read from not only the hero and heroine’s perspectives, but also from the villain’s perspective. Thin Ice is no exception. Every once in a while, during the story, the reader sees things from the bad guy’s point of view…and he is super creepy! While this method does reveal the villain to the reader fairly early on, it does not take away from the scariness of this person. Also, the full reasoning of his actions and the full extent of his evilness is not completely revealed until near the end.

Special Agent Lance McGregor may be new to the FBI, but he has experience as a Delta Force operator. He is strong and determined and has been through a lot of painful experiences during his military service, which have caused him to question his faith.

Christy Reed has had to handle a lot in the past year. She has held onto her faith and even though the things she must deal with in the story were incredibly hard, she resolved to stay strong and do whatever was necessary to help the FBI.

I loved the connection between the two main characters in Thin Ice. I thought the romantic tension between Christy and Lance was great, loved that I got to revisit Mac and Lisa from book one a bit, and enjoyed that Finn (the youngest brother) ends up in the story line as well.

ABOUT THE BOOK:

Thin IceAfter losing her parents in a car accident and her sister to a house fire, Christy Reed has been mired in grief. Life is finally starting to feel normal again when an envelope arrives in the mail–addressed in her sister’s handwriting. And the note inside claims she is still alive.

FBI Special Agent Lance McGregor, a former Delta Force operator, is assigned to reopen the case, but he’s coming up with more questions than answers. If Ginny Reed is still alive–who is the woman buried in her grave? Where is Ginny? And is Christy a pawn in a twisted cat-and-mouse game–or the target of a sinister plot? As he digs deeper, one thing becomes clear: whoever is behind the bizarre ruse has a deadly agenda.

Bestselling author and two-time Christy Award finalist Irene Hannon warms readers’ hearts as they root for a romance between Lance and Christy, but she pulls out all the stops as this high-stakes thriller chills to the bone in a race to the finish.
