I really struggled with this book. I have enjoyed other novels by this author, but this story just did not work for me. I had trouble connecting or caring about the two main characters, Stacy and Alex. Stacy continually did things that annoyed me! I did, however, admire the way she cared about the boy named Whitt, who she was working to gain custody of. Whitt was also a pivotal character in the novel and I really did like him. He added a lot of interest, humor, and depth to the story for me.
I think many readers will enjoy this book, partly because the scheme behind the events of the story was very elaborate. It did keep me guessing. I’m not sure how plausible it would be for these events to occur, but it was very creative. The book did pick up in interest for me around the final quarter of the novel.
