I have really been enjoying this devotional. The daily readings are straightforward and understandable. I appreciate that the topic is clearly explained and definitely connected to the Bible reading for the day.
The selected Bible readings are not overly short nor overly long. I appreciate that I can sit down and focus immediately on the topic at hand. After the Bible reading, there is a section titled “Flourish”, which has an uplifting suggestion to encourage the reader to put into action whatever topic they have been reading about. Each day’s devotional is finished with a short prayer.
I have chosen to progress through the devotional chronologically, but the devotional can also be used in a topical format. At the beginning of the book, the topics are listed, with each topic containing the various devotions related to it for easy reference. I appreciate that the author thought of this. Sometimes it is so important to do a focused study on certain issues or truths.
I definitely recommend this devotional, which is focused to help the reader realize that God wants to rescue us and wants us to prevail against those things that pull us away from a focus on Him.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions are my own.
ABOUT THE BOOK:
Scripture is God’s love letter to us. Everything he asks of us is for our good and his glory. But that doesn’t mean life is easy, and sometimes we need to be reminded of God’s power over all that we face. We need something or someone to shake us up and teach us the truth about God and ourselves!
Susie Larson’s newest devotional, Prevail, guides us through the arc of the Scriptures while encouraging us to feel and trust in his presence in our everyday lives. Using practical Scripture passages, thought-provoking questions, and her very own Bible-margin notes, Susie offers 365 days’ worth of opportunities for us to strengthen our walk in faith while finding a new level of freedom and redemption.
