MY REVIEW
Wonderful, wonderful story! One of the best things about this novel was that it just felt so real. The likelihood of these two best friends marrying for the reasons they did were totally plausible. The way they began feeling a bit uncomfortable around each other as husband and wife was also realistic.
The awkward moments were balanced by good conversations that focused on their friendship. We, the readers, could see how Trinity and Omar were slowly developing deeper feelings for each other, but it took awhile for their hearts to open to that idea.
The way the two toddlers reacted to Trinity becoming their new mom was very realistic, as well. There were so many sweet moments tangled up with tantrums and difficulties.
Omar struggled to let go of certain parts of his life with his first wife. There were a couple of times where his immediate reaction was linked to the pain he felt at the memory of his wife fading from the girls’ lives. The author did such a good job of creating a man who was struggling with grief, yet also wanted to honor his new wife.
I loved this sweet story and also appreciated the beautiful epilogue at the end.
