My Review

Second Chance Cowboy was such a great story! These two main characters really burrowed into my heart. It was so clear to see that the love they felt for each other while still in high school had been the real deal. But, there was a lot of pain tangled up between them, due to the way Wes left years earlier.

Emily and Wes felt so real to me. Emily had trouble trusting that Wes wouldn’t abandon her again. Wes desperately wanted to begin again in Shelter Creek with Emily, but worried about his younger brother, who lived so far away.

I loved getting to read about Wes and Emily making visits to the local ranches to care for animals. Fancy, Rosalind, and Beatrice were animals that were especially wonderful to read about and brought many special moments to the story.

I enjoyed this book from start to finish. Even though this book is part of a series, it can definitely be enjoyed as a stand alone novel, too. I have read some of the books in this series, but not all of them. The author does a good job of incorporating characters from previous stories, while making each book able to be understood on its own.
