Review: Driving Force by Kate Angelo presented by Lynette Eason

What a great, action-packed story! This novel is the first book in the Elite Guardians Collection series, which is connected to and a continuation of Lynette Eason’s Elite Guardians series. I could not set this book down once I started reading it.

The main characters, Christina, Grey, and Grey’s military working dog, Boss, were phenomenal! I liked that Christina and Grey were both very skilled from their time in the military, yet both of them carried guilt from events in their pasts.

Grey was such a compelling character. He was wounded while in service and is confined to a wheelchair. He was a great combination of strength and ability and definitely someone who had worked hard to adapt to his life with a disability. Grey also had things he struggled with emotionally due to his limitations. His humanity came through vividly in this story.

I loved that Christina saw Grey as a man and not as a man in a wheelchair. There were times she even forgot about the wheelchair and instead of it making Grey upset, it was refreshing for him to be around someone who didn’t pity him or question his ability to do something.

The dog, Boss, was a wonderfully written character, as well. He was the perfect addition to the story and pivotal in their search for whoever was behind all the death and mayhem.

ABOUT THE BOOK

He’s the last client she wants to protect…

Elite Guardians bodyguard/former sniper CHRISTINA SHERMAN has protected uncooperative clients before—but this time, well her client is bossy, headstrong and occasionally eats off the floor. Yes, he’s a highly trained military working dog, but certainly her skills could be put to better use, right?

Not according to former Special Forces Air Commando GREY PARKER. He needs her help to protect his dog while he undergoes an experimental surgery that could restore his ability to walk. He just needs someone to keep his canine partner safe. Most of all, Grey wants back on his feet so he can track down a deranged scientist known as The Scavenger who unleashed a nerve agent that left Grey sidelined in a wheelchair.

When an attempt is made on Grey’s life, and dead bodies begin piling up—with evidence the same toxin is responsible—suddenly Christina is tasked with keeping both dog and soldier alive…and with them, the secrets that could stop a terrorist attack.

But this time, even Christina might be in over her head.
