Crossfire is a good addition to the Extreme Measures series. It is book two, but can definitely be read as a stand alone novel.
Both of the main characters had traumatic backstories. Clay’s trouble was from a year earlier, yet he still carried guilt related to the situation. Julianna’s trauma was from fifteen years earlier, but the horrific nature of the situation not only impacted the way she did her job as a hostage negotiator but caused her a lot of emotional turmoil.
I liked getting a look into the way Julianna approached negotiating and they way the team and SWAT members worked together in these dangerous situations. I also really enjoyed seeing the strong sibling relationships that both Clay and Julianna had with their younger sisters.
I enjoyed this intense novel and look forward to reading the next story in the series.
