Review: The Heir’s Predicament by Lorri Dudley

Although The Heir’s Predicament is the last book in the Leeward Islands series, it is a novel that can definitely be read as a stand alone. It is a story that looks at the topic of where people place their worth. Societal expectations and stigma relating to who someone was, what family they were part of, and especially if the person was of legitimate birth were a definite focus of the Regency era. This book also highlighted the way certain families of wealth abused their powerful connections for their own gain.

I really enjoyed the way the diary entries and letters gave little glimpses into the past and provided hope for Maggie that she would find the answers to her questions about her parents. The love story that developed was sweet, with some very swoony moments! I enjoyed watching the characters grow emotionally and spiritually as they learned more about the importance of trusting God with everything. This was a fun and romantic book to read. I recommend it to those who enjoy Regency period novels, but also those who enjoy adventure and island tales.
