MY REVIEW
Can’t Buy Me Love was a cute story. Although it was a nod to Cinderella, this novel definitely had its own twists and turns, which kept it unique. Readers who have enjoyed the other books set in the Deep Haven community will enjoy seeing a few familiar faces, however, new readers with no prior knowledge of Deep Haven can easily pick this book up and enjoy it as a stand alone novel.
The way Ella and Adrian met was a good way to quickly throw together two people from very different backgrounds and helped to create a connection between the two. Whether it was a good connection or a bad connection remained to be seen.
It was definitely a comedy of errors that landed these two doing community service together. I must admit that the handling of their cases had me cringing and a bit angry with the mismanagement. However, it all worked for the good of the story and I thought the way these two bonded as they began to get to know each other was very sweet.
There was angst and misunderstanding along the way, as well as some emotional and spiritual growth that had to occur for both characters as time passed in the story. Although I liked these characters, I did not connect with them on the same level that I have with many of the other characters from the various books set in Deep Haven. But, all in all, Can’t Buy Me Love is a fun addition to the Deep Haven Collection
